Welcome

You're here, looking for a therapist licensed in Oregon or New Jersey to help you with challenging feelings and situations. There's so many therapists that can help alleviate anxiety, depression, self-esteem and relationship issues. How do you choose? How do you choose when you're already feeling overwhelmed by life?

When I've looked for a therapist, I've looked for experience, education, convenience, and connection/approach. I offer you what I'd want!

You're likely wondering, can this therapist help me? Do her clients see results? I have 11 years experience in the mental health field. I've seen hundreds of folks ages 14 and older experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship and communication challenges, and addictions including screens. My approach is warm, kind, friendly, and humorous when appropriate. We set goals together, I help keep you accountable, I offer weekly practice (homework) so that you see progress as fast as possible, and to really integrate the information daily. If wanted, I am kindly able to bring up potential blindspots, other areas for us to work on, in a non-judgmental way. I offer a 30-minute complimentary consultation so you can get to know my approach, and I can learn more of how I can assist you so that you can begin the process of healing. Don't waste your limited time here on planet Earth - you deserve healing and relief NOW.

Another thing that is important when looking for a therapist is education. I have a BA in Psychology and a MA in Counseling. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction training course graduate. I have taken dozens of trainings on life coaching, mindfulness, substance use, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and relationships. Additionally, I research each client's presenting concerns to tailor my approach to you. I've been in the mental health field for over 11 years, and in private practice for more than six.

Convenience. Do you really want to travel across town, in traffic, find and/or pay for parking, to go sit in a strangers space and tell them your private information? That doesn't sound appealing! I see clients via confidential video sessions. That sounds so weird, and impersonal right? Before you dismiss it, let me tell you why my clients like it, and why therapy is moving in this direction. The most exciting reason I offer teletherapy is because I, and many other colleagues, have noticed PEOPLE IMPROVE FASTER. That means less time and money output, and more living your best life! One theory as to why this happens is because of the disinhibition effect. This means that because things feel a touch more anonymous, you're likely to open up more, and quicker. For more information, see this link. Another theory is that because you're in the comfort of your own home rather than a stranger's territory, you feel more comfortable. Lastly, perhaps because there is less compartmentalizing (the session information can't just stay "in my therapists office") there is more conscious and subconscious work happening as you are reminded of session information in your own space. But wait Rochelle, what if I don't have my own space?! You can have sessions in your car, in an office, in a library room, or ask your roommates for 50 MINUTES A WEEK to have the house to yourself.

Other reasons I offer teletherapy are because it saves you time and money - less time spent commuting, in traffic, paying for gas/parking, etc. and therefore reducing both of our carbon footprints. Additionally, I can serve folks with mobility/transportation issues, those with busy lives, those living rurally, and folks with kids (again, less money for babysitters and less time strategizing schedules). This is what I want for you - quick, effective, meaningful healing so that you can be the best version of yourself, the person you've always wanted to be.

Many clients have told me how much they appreciate that I am a safe person in which they can tell everything to, how much I've helped them through relationship challenges and substance use, how relieved they are that the discomfort of anxiety is gone, how much they love being able to have therapy in their own home, and that they appreciate my warm energy. I'd love to see how we can work together to better your life!
